Should I bring food and/or toys with my pet?

All resort guests are served a premium quality kibble (chicken and rice) designed for all life stages. If you are planning on bringing your pet to the resort, you are welcome to stop by our office to pick up some samples to help your pet make a smooth transition onto our food. For a small additional fee of $2 per meal, you may bring your dog’s own food in pre-packaged, zip-lock baggies. We do require that cats board with their own food (no additional fee).

We have lots of toys here. If you wish to bring your own, please understand that we cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items.

Special Diets If your pet has a special diet, please write down the recipes and pre-package the meals. Our staff members are more than happy to accommodate any special dietary requirements for a small additional fee.

Luggage At Crossroads, we provide pets with comfortable beds, soft fleeces to lay on, and an assortment of toys and chewies. Therefore, it is at the owners discretion whether they want to bring personal items with their pet. While you are welcome to bring any items with your pet, we cannot be held responsible for the condition or return of personal belongings. Please let us know if your pet has any particular toy preferences as we will work hard to provide your pet with anything that will make their stay more comfortable.

My dog is aggressive, can it still come to the resort?

Crossroads Pet Resort is one of the few kennels willing to deal with all types of aggression and fear cases. We are more than willing to accommodate all breeds and temperaments in our facility. Please make our staff aware if your dog has any particular issues and we will do our best to make their stay as comfortable as possible. We also encourage owners of such dogs to look into utilizing some of our training services, as we have been very successful in helping the management and conditioning of aggressive and fearful dogs.

HOME AGAIN

Your pet will receive lots of personalized care and attention during his or her stay at Crossroads, but will no doubt be very excited to see you upon your return. Here are some pointers to make your pet’s transition back home a smooth one:

Allow your dog to eliminate before getting into your car for the ride home.

Wait 30 minutes after arriving at home to offer water to your dog. Offer only small amounts at first to avoid any vomiting that may occur from the car ride or excitement of being back home. Also, try to wait several hours before offering food, and then start with a small meal.

After a change of routine and likely a lot of exercise (canines, especially), your pet may sleep more than usual for the first day or two after arriving home.

Excitement and change of routine can also cause dogs to have some loose stool. If this occurs, withhold food for 12 to 24 hours to allow his system to rest and then offer a bland diet such as boiled chicken and rice. If it doesn’t resolve after 24 hours, or if your pet has repeated loose stool or diarrhea, contact your veterinarian. There is always a danger of dehydration if vomiting and/or diarrhea persists.

If your cat is allowed outdoors, keep him or her inside for a few days after returning back home.

If you notice your pet showing signs of illness such as coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or other symptom that is not normal for your dog, contact your veterinarian for advice.
